POSITIVES:
+Strong voice acting all around, especially from Jonathan Adams as the Monitor and Geoffrey Arend as Psycho Pirate
+Epic and atmospheric score by Kevin Rieple, great use of vocals
+Animation is colorful, fluid, and well defined. Excellent action
+Meg Donelly’s Supergirl has the best character arc
+Jensen Ackles as Batman, pitch perfect. Awesome to see the Bat Family
+Troy Baker’s Joker
+Hearing Will Friedle voice Batman Beyond once again hit me in my childhood nostalgia, although his appearance itself is far too brief
+Psycho Pirate’s backstory and villainous plight
NEGATIVES:
-Lack of focus on a central character prevents the movie from having an emotional core or a heart
-Too many storylines happening at once, different earths are confusing and underdeveloped
-Barely any screen time for integral Justice League members
-Batman Beyond cameo appearance is brief and wasted
-No sense of urgency to the existential stakes or dramatic weight, just lots of endless exposition
-Battles with the Shadow Demons are hollow and grow tedious
OVERALL:
Although there are some notable highlights as it pertains to the character of the Monitor and a formidable villain in Psycho Pirate, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Two is a jumbled middle chapter of the Crisis trilogy, with far too much happening at once and a lack of emotional depth to keep the story or its many characters grounded. While this is a disappointing second entry, its cliffhanger ending promises far more exciting and satisfying things to come in the third and final installment.
